What is Deacon Dan's DIVINE COMEDY presentation?
Dear Parish/School/Conference/other group,
Is it okay to be religious AND humorous? Does God grant us the grace to be a humorous people? I say absolutely yes. After all, We are “religioUS”, “humoroUS”, and we believe in “Jes”US”! AND He created “US” in His Image, too, right? How wonderoUS!
Simply, in the DIVINE COMEDY presentation, I describe, through clean jokes, saintly humorous examples, and hysterical religious cartoons, how our faith life is enriched by daily humor. It's a memorable comedy presentation that you will not soon forget. You will learn how God loves you yesterday, today, and "ever-laughter".
We should and need to laugh. We need to experience holy joy in our lives. While sharing select religious cartoons I have done over the last 25 years, the underlying purpose of the presentation is to generate and to inspire the faithful (or anyone who attends) to realize/remember that we are made in God's Image, and as He smiles on us we, too, need to smile and laugh to reflect His joy on others. We are called to be a joyful and joy-filled people.
By understanding better God's desire to have a PERSONAL relationship with us, we desire to have a personal relationship with Him.
God has a relationship with all of us. If he didn't we would cease to exist immediately. What WE need is to have a relationship with Him. We do this best through prayer, and our loving relationships between ourselves and God's other children, of course. And what is one of the important ingredients that binds us together in our relationships?... humor and laughter.
Being a cartoonist and a committed Catholic who believes (as does the Pope) we need to evangelize first our own people, this presentation is a perfect marriage for me of my profession (as a cartoonist) and my profession (what I "profess" as a Catholic).
If your parish, school, conference, or group would be interested in my coming to do this presentation, I am presently booking as we speak.
Peace of Christ,
Deacon Dan
